doTERRA Essential Oils Intro Kit Giveaway

I love using essential oils in our diffusers through the house! I haven't really gotten into mixing oil blends just yet, but after finding some pretty cool ideas on Pinterest and on the doTERRA website, I intend on starting asap! (Another new year's resolution I hope to add to our health and wellness list!)


I use our diffusers on a daily basis and try to use specific oils for whatever the ailments may be or just to make everything smell lemony or like peppermint! I also like to use doTERRA blends. (My kids think that the newest blends, peace, motivate, and cheer, are all for happiness, finish your chores, feeling content, and having fun!) Which is sorta caused by me since I try my best to make everybody smile, have fun, GET ALONG, and do their chores. But, most of all, fill the house with laughter :)

Yes, I did tell them what the oils are "for" and it seems to have made a difference actually! It's fun to let them pick which oils they would like in the diffuser and then they start to run around and finish chores. (Yes, this I am being serious!) I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that they are able to choose their own blends and this makes them feel independent. I know with my children, at least, if they play a part in making decisions, they seem to be more anxious to actually do things such as, chores. This is true for eating healthy too! If they play a part in helping to decide our menu, make a shopping list, even help gather the ingredients at the store, and prepare the meals and snacks, they are more excited to try healthier foods!

My youngest likes to help our dogs out by diffusing oils he believes will help them feel better and have a good day :) I think it really does work. I have seen the dogs smile and they tend to be more relaxed depending on the oils the little ones choose for them!

So, after finding so many ideas for blends, (I have to start pinning asap!), I think I will have them create some of their own and write out some recipe cards so they can conjure up their own magic potions! I enjoy including them in the decision making process and we are always looking for ways to teach them about everything from figuring out money, "paying bills", deciding what they would like to wear, what charity they would like to donate to, all the way to learning about what each oil could help with and how to make their own roller bottle blends (with mom's help of course!) and now, diffuser blends.

I will have to come back and let you know if we found any fancy blends that make the whole house clean itself or add a few hours to each day, lol! And Another Essential Oil Kit Giveaway

Yes, I know, some of you may be getting tired of all of this essential oil stuff all over the internet :) I love these yummy smelling, beneficial essential oils and they play a very important role here at our house. I plan to continue to offer these giveaways every couple of weeks, so that others can learn or try them out or even just stockup a bit so they have some on hand. (Especially since the cold and flu season is coming!)

I really love the snow, I really do. I want to get hit with a lot of snowstorms this year and I want to get snowed in. (As long as nobody has to drive in it!) It reminds me of when I was a kid and school would cancel and we were in our pajamas all day, drinking hot chocolate, watching the snow fall, and then, jumping in the snow and having so much fun! Now, I don't care for playing in the snow to much now lol. Mainly, because, I can barely move when it is warm outside and when the cold hits, I am pretty much stuck in my pajamas, trying as hard as I can to make the pain disappear, even just a little. But, my kids are having the time of their lives out there and I can't stop laughing at them running around with their bright red noses and their bundled up, sumo wrestler bodies, making snow forts and snowmen.

If I have to choose one thing I can't stand when winter comes around, (other than driving in a blizzard or on ice.), I would have to say that I do miss the fresh air more than anything! I run outside a lot during the winter, just so I can smell the fresh air and I feel like I am actually airing out part of the house when I do this. Yes, I am a little weird I guess. I stand at the door, waving it back and forth real fast before my husband sees me and yells, "Shut the door! We're not paying to heat the outside!" But, I NEED open windows, curtains floating in the breeze, and fresh, clean, crisp air. So, I do my best to scent the house as best as I can, so that I am reminded of warm, sunny days and the pleasant aroma of just washed laundry with fabric softener, wild flowers, and maybe a spring shower. I do this by making candles, wax tarts, scented oils for oil burners and making my own carpet refresher, fabric refresher, and air fresheners, with essential oils.

Essential Oil Intro Kit Giveaway

I have a lot of essential oil giveaways planned for the rest of the year and even in the new year! We will even be starting a new Twitter chat coming soon and yes, indeed, there will be prizes!

I thought you would get bored if you had to read a bunch of jibberish about essential oils, ways to use them, blah blah blah, so, I decided to just share something that I make regularly, with essential oils and maybe you want to try it, maybe not. Either way, there is a giveaway at the end of this post so, be sure to enter!!

I love making body butters, whipped body butters to be precise! I make them to sell once in awhile and to add to gift baskets, donation gift baskets, and of course, teacher gifts! My little ones have a lot of fun helping with making lip balms, solid perfumes, incense, butters, scrubs, the only thing I haven't let them really help with just yet, are candles and wax tarts. Although, my 12 year old is getting really, really, really good at wicks for candles. (I am a nervous wreck when trying to quickly wick several dozen tea lights as fast as possible, but he's a natural!)

So, this essential oil intro kit giveaway post, will be about my favorite cinnamon body butter.

You will need:

Cinnamon essential oil
Ground Cinnamon or grated cinnamon sticks
Shea Butter
Coconut Oil
Cocoa Butter
A couple of drops of vitamin e oil
Jars or glass containers with lids
A hand mixer, a pot, and something to stir and scrape with.

I am not to keen on exact measurements for cooking, baking, or even making homemade products. I kind of eye it up and add if need be and of course, it also depends on how much you would like to make.

For roughly 4 4oz containers of whipped body butter, I use a little over 1 cup of coconut oil, 1/2 cup each shea butter and cocoa butter and about 40 drops of cinnamon essential oil. (I sort of just add 10 drops at a time until it seems to be enough.)

First, melt the cocoa and shea butter on low. Then add the coconut oil.
Once the butters and oils are all liquid, remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes.
Next, I add vitamin e. This isn't required, but, it adds to the benefits of this luscious body butter!
Then, the cinnamon essential oil.
The next part takes the longest but, you only need to whip every so often and check on the bowl every 15 to 30 minutes or so.
I put the bowl in the fridge to speed the process up and whip on high every 15 minutes for a few minutes.
I also add some sprinkled cinnamon for color and added scent.

Once you have your desired consistency, just spoon into jars and sprinkle some cinnamon on top!
I like to add ribbon and some cinnamon sticks or even wooden scoops when gifting! That's the fun thing about homemade products! You can make them your own, any way you like or make them to include labels for a charity, a friend, a wedding favor, baby shower, whatever you like. The possibilities are endless!

Why cinnamon?

Believe it or not, cinnamon doesn't just taste super delicious! It has many benefits for your skin too!

One of my favorite benefits, of course, is that cinnamon can be helpful for somebody dealing with pain. It helps remove stiffness in your bones and joints, thanks to it being an anti inflammatory substance.
Cinnamon works great for indigestion and is sometimes referred to as a digestive tonic.
Cinnamon oil is very effective in killing mosquito larvae. (This would be a great summer time body butter too!)
Cinnamon is said to help plump skin which in turn, would fill in lines. (Added bonus for all of us 40 somethings and even 30 somethings out there!) You don't have to just use cinnamon to plump up your skin but, it can also plump up your lips! One trick I use often, is, I keep a jar with olive oil and cinnamon sticks and just pull one out and use it as a lip plumper. Totally inexpensive and it smells lovely!
If you get cut, sprinkle some cinnamon on the cut and it will kill the bacteria! It is also said to be; anti septic, anti fungal, and anti bacterial.
Using cinnamon on your skin is also thought to help increase collagen, helps to enhance your complexion, and soothes dry and rough skin.

Grand Reopening, RSD, OH, and A Giveaway!!

I have a lot of super nifty things planned for this blog and a few others I have been working on, since I was out for a bit, due to health issues..

Most of my readers from this blog, know I have RSD.. which is most of the reason I haven't been here very often in 2013, along with an accident that affected the beginning of the year last year.
No, RSD doesn't seem to disappear, but I am able to function quite a bit better these days, mainly due to medication changes and stopping the treatments that didn't seem to be doing much for me anymore, and a few changes to my schedule with my pt job, and little ones.
Of course, I will always have hopes for a cure, and I am always willing to try new treatments, so any recommendations any of you may have, would be greatly appreciated!!
Enough about that, (more on my life with RSD, some other time).........
I am more than anxious to get back to work on this blog, and I have tons of interesting things to write about and share with you, I am thinking, if it isn't busy at work tonight, lol, I just may be back to chat a bit more!

January is Pamper Busy Moms Month (Giveaways!!)

What are your New Year's Resolutions?
I made a few, lol, as usual, but who knows if I am going to have the time to get through the list?
I live a very eventful life, and at any hour of any day, this family can be thrown into topsy turvy mode!
We have medical issues, little 2 year olds who find amusement in dumping full containers of Coffeemate cream all over the carpet, problems with my husband's tractor trailer, (yes, we are self employed so the problems are our problems!), pretty much anything can happen, and it has. 2012 has been a very crazy year and I am honestly happy to wave goodbye.
Like everybody else, I make a little list of things I would like to accomplish, throughout the year, and by the end of the year. I figure, if I give myself a year, it will get done. (My weekly to do lists have lots of transfers from week to week), and with Deegan getting a little older, I am hoping this year is the year this little monkey boy calms down.
I realized I had a whole pile of gorgeous products to give away and review, hair products, vitamins, eye cream, (my favorite beauty product!!), gift cards, and breath freshners,  all kinds of things that are going to help with my own personal resolutions, so I thought, maybe some of you have a similar idea for 2013.
I am going to take more time to take care of myself for once, I know this is rough, and sometimes if we even get showers, they might last 5 minutes.  Maybe this is partially a resolution for my husband and kids, lol, but either way, I am somehow going to make time for me, and along with this comes confidence, self esteem, and hey, who knows? Just maybe, I will get more accomplished;)
I am 38 years old, and and a grandma now, so, I have to take more time. (Ok, maybe I am grabbing here lol), but I am just going to do it, and pray this works this year.
If you are anything like me, and I know a few of my readers quite well, so I do know that a lot of you are. Whether you can relate with chronic pain disorders, neurolgical disorders, being a grandma, or even just being a mom or wife, we all need to take more time for ourselves. Imagine how much more pleasant things would be at home for our husbands and kids, if mom had more time....

Vitacost Review and Giveaway!!

I often check a few select websites each week for sales and deals, because they always seem to have the best deals out there. Even if I happen to miss them or don't have the money available to take advantage of the deals. But, I sometimes manage to actually hit the site at that right moment when I can save a fortune and score some free shipping!!
 Vitacost.com is one of those sites, so of course when they emailed me about doing a review, I was more then happy to be a part of this!
 Vitacost is well known for vitamins, vitamin sales, healthy living products, free shipping on orders $49 or more, and their super awesome refer a friend program!! I love how they are just like a healthy living pharmacy, online, with much better prices then local pharmacies, and the free shipping deal is always a big help.
 A lot of the products that I have found on Vitacost, are not available around me, or at any of my pharmacies, (we kind of live in the middle of nowhere, lol, so free shipping and availability of the best brands are very important to us!) Especially when it doesn't cost a fortune to have it delivered. It saves me tons of time, gas money and I don't have to run al over and try to find the products. I also love the new brands I can try and have tried thanks to Vitacost.
 I also often check out the Vitacost blog, for advice and tips on healthy living, and recipes. We aren't a big gluten free family, but we are in the process of figuring this one out. My husband and our 9 year old son, Aaron, have a few stomach issues, and we are always keeping food diaries, running to specialists, etc, trying to get answers for what seems to have been going on forever with them. So wen I see a new gluten free recipe, or snack food, I grab it. I mean, it's healthier for all of us, and so far, these products and meals haven't made these 2 sick. So, we are leaning a bit more towards switching at least half of our food to gluten free. Which is a pretty expensive move, and the stores I shop at, only offer very small sections of aisles for gluten free products. So any help from online sources, especially the Vitacost blog, is very important!! Not to mention, they have tons of gluten free products that I would have never realized existed if it weren't for them.
 I am madly in love with the beauty products they carry!! I may not wear a lot of make up, but I am addicted to lotions, lip glosses, lip balms, bath products and mascara lol! I go crazy over these things and have a few containers, make up bags and drawers in both bathrooms, filled to the brim!
 A while back, I saw an ad on Facebook about a sale on Vitacost, that came with a $10 credit, and at the same time, there was a huge sale on beauty products and I grabbed a Burt's Bees sample bag for free! I had to pay a few bucks for shipping, but other then that, it was very cool to try 6 different products from the Burt's Bees line, for practically nothing.
Some other amazing beauty and baby brands they offer are: Alba, Jason, Kiss My Face, Juice Organics, Earth's Best, California Baby, Pangea Organics, Beauty Without Cruelty and Seventh Generation. There are a LOT more brands they offer, some may be familiar and some may not be, so if you haven't shopped here yet, you will probably be here forever, checking out all of the brands and products.
They sell almost everything here for you to instill and keep a healthier, happier lifestyle at home. They offer everything from vitamins, pet care, baby care, beauty, food, herbs, cleaning products and more. Pretty much everything we need to replace here in our home, can be found here. This fits perfect with our family, because one of the new year's resolutions we made was to gradually switch all brands. (We have been doing this in 2012, and I hope to be almost there by the end of 2013.) So, expect to see a lot of reviews and posts about our complete transformation, most will be for products we find on Vitacost.com, I'm sure:)
Anyway, I did get to try some scrumptious bath products that I don't really know if I will ever be able to live without now!! It's so neat how some bath products can actually really smell just like what it says it does, along with doing what is says it will, even more. The best part is, they aren't all filled with chemicals, so they are much better for you and your little ones!
 The first product I tried was, Primal Elements, Sugar Whip moisturizing body scrub. This was nothing but a pure treat!! I am almost empty and have to refill because I really, really, really, have no idea how in the world I am ever going to go without this twice a week!!

They have different scents, I received, Tahitian Vanilla, which smells just like the container when you first open it, ALL DAY!! YUM!! It is especially important on shaving days, since it will exfoliate the top layer of dead skin, which helps tremendously when it comes to getting a much closer shave. This is especially important for busy moms since it seems so rare, at least for me, that we even have a chance to jump in the shower, much less shave!
 Some other tasty flavors, or scents, that Primal Elements has on Vitacost.com are: cupcake!!, Mediterranean Mint, Citrus Melonmint, Grapefruit, Candy Corn, Mocha Latte, and Sparkling Sugar, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!
The next products I received were: Isvara Peppermint body wash and Isvara Honey body lotion.
Believe it or not, these 2 fit perfectly together and I am impressed with the long lasting scents! I didn't think honey and peppermint would be so splendid, but they are! These products make your skin baby soft, and come in super handy pump form! (I love pumps better for products like this because it seems you use more and waste less and it is not nearly as messy as other containers, tubs, tubes, jars)

Some other noteworthy products from this brand are: Isvara Organics Clear Skin Facial Mask, Body Butter, Peppermint Body Milk, Coconut Sunscreen and Body Polish in Coffee Sugar!! (that is on my next order for sure!!!)
 Another cool point about Vitacost, (yes, I know this is so long, and I apologize, I am just more then pleased with this website and I still have enough to discuss and chit chat about, lol, I may just drive some of you nuts!!), but they have the refer a friend program, which gives you $10 credit for every friend you refer, and they also have a "Set and Save" program, which includes automatic delivery, you set the amount and time frames, it locks you in the lowest prices, and you can change or cancel any time.
