The True Nature of Tarot by Diane Wing

I always had a set of Tarot cards, ever since I was maybe 13 years old. Maybe I couldn't read them to good, but I sure did try:) I read what all the cards meant, what they stood for, bought books at the mall bookstore about them, (we didn't have internet and things available back then:)and apparently made the mistake of taking them to school one day. My English teacher saw them, and threw a fit, branding me a "witch", and it went downhill from there. (In her class at least)
I always had a serious problem with people who would label, chastise, and publicly humiliate others, just because they have no idea what they are talking about. I thought maybe I would take it upon myself to open up her eyes by doing a book report on a book about Tarot, well, that didn't go over to well.
Fast forward to present day, I've been a mom, and a bartender now for 20 years, more recently became a "blogger" and I still have many interests, some of which of course may not be considered "normal", even though to me, they are. (I also have an issue with the word "normal", at least when discussing a person, personality, behavior, etc.) But, what is different then when I was young, is people tend to be a little more open about things, maybe they learned from books, the interent, friends, movies, not real sure. But, not everybody is as "scared" as they once were about the unknown anymore.
I was more then thrilled to receive, The True Nature of Tarot, by Diane Wing, M.A, to review. I immediately went upstairs and grabbed my deck of Rider Waite Tarot cards, and started a refresher course until Diane's book arrived. Of course the kiddos were asking questions, mainly, "OOOHHH!! Can we play??", so it was fun to explain what the cards were for, and the conversation led to a chance to get a mini lecture in about karma, treating others how you would like to be treated, and so on. So, that was fun!
As soon as i received her book, I paged through it, and noticed her website on the back. www.ForestWitch.com, which is a very fascinating website and you will get lost there, somewhere!! The graphics and design are stunning and there is so much information, you will have hours of searching, reading, and information to get through!!
Ok, so back to The True Nature of Tarot, I have had quite a few books about Tarot in the past, and some were easier to understand then others, but this is the book I wish I would have had years ago when I first started having an interest!! Diane, explains everything so well, in plain old English, everything you need to know!
My favorite part of her book, is the section where she has pictures of each card, and details each one in very easy to comprehend language!!
Other key sections in this book include, become an expert at grounding and centering to maximize your energetic stability on a daily basis, learn how to develop your own style of reading tarot, how to choose your deck, learn how a reading is experienced from the perspectives of both the reader, and the inquirer, and how to discover ways to increase the amount of information pulled from the tarot.
This is the perfect choice if you are interested in learning, or have been studying, or even if you have been doing readings for some time. She has a few chapters about ethics, the truth about Tarot, grounding techniques, and several layouts. You really won't have to buy another book!!

Diane Wing, has over 25 years experience as a Tarot reader, among other things. She is an extraordinary person, with much to offer!
You can read more about her here, you can also sign up with her community, and access lots of interesting articles for your growth!
You can also find Diane on Twitter!!
and if you are interested in purchasing her book, you can buy it here...

I would love to read any comments you may have!! Have you ever been interested in Tarot cards?
Have you ever read this book?

From the Chrysalis by Karen Black

I received a copy of this book, and as soon as I clicked to open the file, I started reading it. It is one of my favorite kinds of books, the kind that jumps right out and starts from page 1. no waiting, and the story unfolds rather quickly.
Liza and Dace are cousins, and Liza falls in love with Dace, who is a few years older then her, and also on his way to prison for murder. (although he really isn't guilty). It takes place in the 60's and 70's and also in Canada.
Dace ends up being a part of the Canada prison riots, and gets in even more trouble. Dace is a loyal friend, to loyal and takes the heat for a lot of people. Which in the end, gets him in trouble that he doesn't deserve.
From the Chrysalis, is Karen Black's debut, which is an amazing debut, very well written, smooth writing style, and very descriptive. She has a style all her own, and I personally would like to read more from her in the near future.
This story is one you won't be forgetting anytime soon, nor will you want to put it down. You will probably end up hoping for the best for Liza and Dace.
If you don't usually like violence in your books, then you may want to skip over the prison riot sections, although this was written so descriptively and flows nicely!! It isn't to over the top, however, I don't normally have an issue with violence and things of that nature in the books I enjoy.
The author has a fascinating imagination, and this book proves that! She has taken facts and an actual event, and turned it into a twisted, suspenseful, romance novel.

You can buy this book on Amazon..

Please leave any comments below! have you read this book? What did you think?

Blogging for Small Business

Yes, another Roadrunner Digital eBook;) I can't help it, this site is like a gold mine for bloggers, small businesses, Ebayers, anybody who is looking for solid information on how to earn more money online, and from home.
This specific book, is easily read, understood, and teaches many, many things about all of the opportunities there are out here.
If you are just starting, or already blogging, even if you are a seasoned blogger, there will be some valuable information for you in this book. This is especially helpful for the self starter, newbies, and social media junkies;)
It explains why every small business should have a blog, the many ways of earning money through your blog, and help with how to start, what to expect, how to make deals, sales, pretty much everything basic for all kinds of sites, blogs, and businesses.
I have to admit, I am partial to this specific site, (Roadrunner Digital), because I have yet to get a bad eBook from here. I may not be making lots of money online, nor am I a master at social marketing, earning money, or anything for that matter. (well, maybe my bartending skills are out of this world;) But, I learn most, through the eBooks offered on this site. I also store information, take notes, and save files, and can help point others in the direction of very informative books on these topics. The directions would all pretty much go to this website and the eBooks they offer.
I highly recommend this eBook for ANY small business, and ANY blogger, and ANY body who wants to start and learn from an eBook that is not going to tell you that you have to pay any amount of money for their advice and education, other then the cost of the eBook itself;)

The Gemini Agenda by Michael and Patrick McMenamin

If you are a fan of romance novels, this is an excellent choice!
If thrillers are your fave, this is the perfect book!
If you enjoy a good history book, I highly recommend this one!!
If you are a suspense, action, or mystery buff, you have to read this series!!
The Gemini Agenda is truly all of the above and then some, all wrapped into one, 400 page, very well written, easily read, fun to follow, heart pounding stories that you will be reading into the wee hours of the morning.
(**make sure you have some coffee;) One of my favorite things to drink by the pot, with a fascinating book such as this one**)

I applied for a chance to review this book, and thought it would be rather interesting, although I wasn't expecting what i did read.
I do enjoy history books, more specifically, about this era, and I assumed i would receive a history book about Churchill, Hitler, The Nazi Party, which was all fine by me, except that isn't what I got.
So, I received the book in the mail and decided to start reading a page or 2, after checking out the stunning cover, to say the least, and read about the father/son writing team.(Definitely won me over with that, Fox Business, Judge Napolitano, John Stossel, 20/20, the list goes on for both, father and son) and I thought, "Hmmmmm, I think I am going to get the first chapter in at least, even with 12 books ahead of it." Well, to make a long story short, I started with page 1, (of course), and the story just instantly grabbed me by the throat and wouldn't let go! I was stuck with my "face in yet another book", and stumbled through the house, and even tried to fold some laundry. Lol! That didn't work to well, so I just left them there, in the dryer and decided I would read maybe another chapter.....well, it just went on from there.
I didn't really sleep that night, which was ok since I rarely sleep to begin with and I always feel like I am missing something, RSD pain or not;)
Almost immediately, this story picks up and just hits you full force, and there is no stopping it. (Which is seriously fine with me because this doesn't happen often and when it does, it is one of those moments you have to cherish;)
I was reading, and then came to this section of the book, where a woman with light blue eyes was laying on a table, gagged of course, and some crazed lunatic was getting ready to scoop out her eyeballs... WAIT!! WHAT?? yep, it is true, what does this have to do with this book? Everything;)
This book is "A Winston Churchill Thriller", after pondering about how to categorize this book, I came to the conclusion that it is simply, "A Winston Churchill Thriller". That's what it is. So, that little statement on the front bottom right of the cover made more sense after 3 chapters.
I can't get over how great this book is, and I am anxious to check out the first 2 books in this series, as well as the 4th, which I read they are working on..
This kind of reminded me of a real good comic book, a crazy, twisted, romantic, thriller, full of actual history, some extraordinary people, and a genius storyline about eugenics and a couple investigated this and ended up being a bit more then they bargained for.
You can buy this book on Amazon, OR, you can opt for a complete set, straight from the official website, here!

Electric Picture Book

Me and the kiddos spent quite a bit of our craft time today, using this electric picture book online. (and some of my actual work time, but we had a blast and made quite a few electric picture books and I guess I will accept this for tonight's craft;)
I have to say, it took me a bit to get started, due to a few technical "difficulties" I use Linux and had to install Windows for this DNL Reader you will need, in order to make, edit, and view your Electric Picture Book.

This was our first color choice and picture we put on our picture book;)
Genevive wanted the whole thing to be just her, with no brothers, lol, so that is where we started having to make close to a dozen!
It is real simple actually, you just download the DNL Reader, then click a colored light bulb of your choice, then you choose which picture book you would like! There are eCards, calendars, 6 image photo albums, 12 image albums, and 24 image albums! We used a few of the 6 image, and then started a calendar.

We chose blue for a couple, there are lots of color choices for you to pick from! (Blue is my favorite color)
These are very cool, and a lot nicer and easier to put together then other online albums I have seen and used. You can send this through email to friends and family too, which is very cute, especially for friends and family who live miles away.
The Electric picture book site is easy enough to set up, edit and use, even for Deegan, lol, well, maybe not him, but he is 2 and was able to help right click and place the pictures in our album!

After Aaron got the hang of it, which of course doesn't take long these days with kids, I was able to change a load of laundry around while these 3 made their own picture book! That alone was enough for me to give this site a 5 star rating;p

They all enjoyed being creative and adding pictures and making their own little albums, and Aaron was so happy to be able to do a few all by himself!!
Genevive always loves to look at all her pretty princess pictures, and being able to choose pretty colors for her "Just Genevive" albums was a huge hit!
Not to mention, they all wanted to keep checking out all of the adorable animal pictures that were on the site, and wanted to make one with those pictures, lol!!
We all recommend the Electric Picture Book, for kids of all ages, just make sure you have time to spend, because after making 1, you'll want a few more, and then a couple more!!
You can start your own Electric Picture Book here!
They also have a Facebook page here!

The God Box: Sharing My Mother's Gift of Faith, Love and Letting Go by Mary Lou Quinlan

I was especially happy when I opened the package that this book came in, and saw how beautifully done this book was.
My pictures don't do it justice, but hopefully you will have an idea of how pretty it really is.

This will definitely make you sad, and probably tearful at times, but you will appreciate the author's unique way of helping others with the healing process.
I really like the God Box idea, and will be starting a similar tradition here at our house.
The God Box is a treasured collection of little notes to God, over the years, written by Mary Lou Quinlan's mother. She would leave little notes for God, with her dreams, hopes, prayers for others and the book actually has real photographs of these sweet little notes! As well as real pictures of her mother, and quite a bit about her mother's character and life.
It is a short book, but one you will probably learn a lot from, and can share with others who have been or are going through the grieving process. It will lift your spirits and help you heal.
It was at first, a bit sad and I felt horrible for the author and her family, i know nobody ever really gets over such a terrible time in their lives, and you could tell at times when the author seemed to be having a rough time remembering all of the wonderful things about her mother. It is just like talking with a friend or family member when you read this.
When you do purchase this book, make sure it is one of those special books you keep somewhere other then a bookshelf, (unless it is the tip top shelf;), and keep it as nice as you received it! I just love books that are pretty to look at, and this is one of them! (So, yes, my kids aren't really able to reach it!)
You can buy this book on Amazon, and you may want to buy a copy for a friend or family member you think would benefit from reading that they are not alone, and could use some help putting a smile on their face;)

Rise of the Wadjet Witch (Written in the Sky)

For all of you Twilight fans, you definitely want to check out this book! (Actually, I have never read twilight, I can't get past the annoying movies and the fact that every teenage girl in America, goes crazy over this Edward, is it? Lol! It just has always driven me nuts, and i am allowed to say so, since I have a 19 year old daughter, who also went head over heels over that series...
I read this book pretty quick, as it is not a long book at all, and i am always a "speedreader",I have always been accused of not reading the whole book at school, even if I had all A+++++ 's on my reports;)
But this is a good book for several occasions, and will not be sitting in your car, beach towel, bag, for very long. You will find that the story keeps moving, and starts out pretty quick, and you won't be losing interest in it and you will (well, as long as you are interested in odd or creepy type stories), probably think that this is a fairly rare and unique storyline.
The characters are cool, not corny and annoying, and actually rather interesting. The events start almost right away and you won't need to sit through a few chapters of, "and then we have this character who is blah blah blah blah..."
The part I like best is the twisted, and crazy way that the serial killer is killing people, stabbing them through their third eye, very crazy!!
This is something I have not read about in a book before, so the absence of creatures, vampires, and all of the other Hollywood type plots, really add to this book.
I am really hoping this is a series and that there will be more volumes coming out, and I would be super pleased to see this coming out to a local theater or drive in as a good summertime horror flick!
You can buy this book on Amazon
You can also read about the author, Juliet C Obodo, here! ( another coffee lover;)
I would love to hear your comments about this book!! Please leave a comment below and let us know if you have ever read this book, and what you thought!

250 Bath and Body Recipes eBook Review AND Roadrunner Digital eBook Giveaway!!

If you are a friend of mine, (I like to say friend, rather then "follower", or "fan"), or ok, a reader;) then you probably have seen me go absolutely crazy about this very cool website and digital eBook store, RoadrunnerDigital!
I do love to read and to learn, and so do my little ones, and Roadrunner Digital has an awesome variety of books to choose from. So far, I grabbed recipe books, books that help with internet marketing, social networking, understanding SEO, how to make lip balm and lip gloss, (which is one of the summer activities, Genevive, and I will be doing together;), and this super sweet book, 250 Bath and Body Recipes!!
This is chock full of some easy to make recipes for all kinds of things that we pay way to much for at the store! Homemade bath and body products are also much better for you then the products we buy at the store, pus, we know what is going in them!
This is also a fun thing to do with your little ones, which is what Genevive and I are starting together. We are trying to have our own thing, since Genevive's oldest sister, Bethany, (Our 1st little princess:), is out on her own now, and then she has these 2 terribly annoying but so adorable, brothers, lol! I figured, if mommy and Genevive have our own special things to do, then mommy and Deegan, and mommy and Aaron, the kids feel much more important and are a lot happier! They, and I, can look forward to our own special time together.
Of course, we do things as a family, but with 4 kids, and now a granddaughter on the way, it is important to make sure that each of them has their own thing. Their dad always gets to do the fun stuff with them, (or so it seems), since daddy's always have them outside when they cut the grass or work on cars or 4 wheelers, and watch the cool stuff on TV. (What's TV, right??) lol;)
But anyway, back to this fun book and giveaway!!
You can find most all of these ingredients in your house, the grocery store, and a pharmacy! You can make anything from powders, to cleansers to masques!! Anything that will save money, and be better for my family, is always going to be my first choice. I am sure it is yours too!! Plus, you get the added benefit, which is, you have something fun to do with children, grandchildren, a neighbor, your mom, friends, you can have a much needed girls night out and hang out and bake cookies, (or just eat them;), and try the recipes in this eBook!
You can win your own copy, (this is valued at $27), and it is an instant download, so as soon as you reply to the winner notification email, you can download it asap!!
You can enter here!!
Leave comments below and let us know what eBook you would like to see next as a prize!! You will earn a couple extra entries this way and the more entries, the more prizes!!
You can check out Roadrunner Digital here, and leave the title of what you would love to own, below!!

Hitler's Demons: A Novel of the German Resistance

I read this book over a few days, it was a little longer, (which was perfectly fine by me!), and it had so much information and history and names and people, i researched and read up on so much more about this book, the author, the characters, the time, it took me forever to get this review done!
I have learned so much and am grateful for this assignment, and had nothing but a very interesting time researching and finding so many new things!
I don't know which is even more interesting, the author, or the book!
I wanted to study and learn and search for everything I could, simply so I can truly say, "Wow! This is an outstanding book with the most accurate information that really held my interest!" and so I did, and I can say that, truthfully. This author, Helena P Schrader, really, really, knows her stuff. I also had 3 books about Hitler, all in April, so i thought I should space them out, just a little bit, and well, saved the best for last!
I found this under the "About the Author" tab on Helena's site:
Helena was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of a professor, and travelled abroad for the first time at the age of two, when her father went to teach at the University of Wasada in Tokyo, Japan. Later, after time in Ann Arbor, the family lived in Brazil, England and Kentucky, but home was always the coast of Maine. There, her father’s family had roots, and the old, white clapboard house perched above the boatyard in East Blue Hill.

It was the frequent travel and exposure to different cultures, peoples and heritage that inspired Helena to start writing creatively and to focus on historical fiction. She wrote her first novel in second grade, but made a conscious decision not try to earn a living from writing. She never wanted to be forced to write what would sell, rather than what was in her heart.
Helena graduated with honors in History from the University of Michigan, added a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Commerce from Patterson School, University of Kentucky, and rounded off her education with a PhD in History cum Laude from the University of Hamburg, earned with a ground-breaking dissertation on a leading member of the German Resistance to Hitler. She worked as an investor relations manager with a German bank, an American internet company and a German venture capital fund before joining the U.S. Foreign Service. She is now a career diplomat.

Helena published her first book in 1993, when her dissertation was released by a leading academic publisher in Germany; a second edition followed the following year after excellent reviews in major newspapers. Since then she has published three non-fiction books, starting with Sisters in Arms about women pilots in WWII, The Blockade Breakers about the Berlin Airlift and Codename Valkyrie, a biography of General Olbricht, based on her dissertation. She has also published award-winning historical novels set in World War Two and Ancient Sparta and a trilogy set the Middle Ages.

In June 2010 she was awarded the “Dr. Bernard LaFayette Lifetime Achievement Award for Promoting the Institutionalization of Nonviolence Ideals in Nigeria” by the Foundation for Ethnic Harmony in Nigeria.

She grew up sailing on the Maine coast and served as a petty officer on the sail-training schooners Sir Winston Churchill and Malcolm Miller in her youth. She has owned three horses over the years and remains a resolute horsewoman. She owns property in what was once Lacedaemon, which she visits regularly and where she and her husband Herbert intend to retire in the (not so) distant future.

Amazing woman, right? Yeah, that is exactly what popped in my head when I read her biography!
Now, I am not a historian, nor do I claim to be, which is why so much had to be looked up, and from what I have found, and from what others are saying, this book is one of the most accurate of it's kind. Helena spent, I am sure, lots of time, compiling this information, actual events, facts, names, and managed to write this all in a book. Certainly, the accuracy is extremely important and will make or break it, but Helena actually is right on, with every detail.
This story, yes, it isn't just a history book like you would get in school, it is also a story about a plot to kill Hitler. You also have to remember that some of these characters are real, and somehow she manages to tie these stories together and with all of her expertise, write a book that may be long, but will definitely be one we remember.
I am always fascinated by this time period and the horrifying events that took place, and reading this book has also helped answer some questions as to why the Germans took to such an evil person, why did this country accept this? I never could understand these things and sometimes wonder if this type of disaster would take place again, and where? Are people really this vulnerable? I am always interested in people, how they think, why they do the things they do, and this is one of those times that has confused me.
This story really explains a lot of what you do not learn in high school history, and it opens your eyes to the lives, the feelings and how something so tragic could have taken place.
You can buy this book on Amazon!
This is really a perfect choice for any fan of history, and surely an excellent book for vacation, or outside on a beautiful spring day! You will definitely learn a lot from this author and make sure you check out her other books as well!

My Kind of Breakfast, with Quaker Soft Baked Bars

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Quaker Oats for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

QSBB Yum Image high res.jpg

I can honestly tell you, that yes, these bars really look just like the picture! Eat them straight out of the package or throw them in the microwave for an extra special treat!!

Quaker Soft Baked Bar

My kids, especially Deegan, (he is 2 now), absolutely go crazy for Quaker products, and these are a healthy treat for them, and they think they are getting some sugary filled cookies when they eat these up! (moms always have that cool way of making kids think that the delicious treats they love, are actually healthy and wholesome!) So, Quaker Soft Baked Bars are awesome, just like lots of other Quaker products, since they help me trick my kids!

I love them because, as a busy mom, I rarely have anything more then coffee for breakfast! Every morning, I am to busy cleaning up from 3 little monsters crazy breakfast, getting kids dressed, shoes tied, papers signed, dog fed, etc, that there is never time for me to ever sit and think about eating. but I can find the time to grab a Cinnamon Pecan Bread Soft Baked Bar!

breakfast snack

You would never believe that these are actually packed with:

140 calories
 5g of Fiber
 6g of Protein
 Excellent source of 5 B-Vitamins

They sure don't look like it, and they definitely don't taste like it either. Another big plus in my book!!

wholesome food

I also like the price! Quaker products are always a good deal, and always fit in our grocery budget. I don't really know what my favorite part about Quaker is? Maybe the prices, the large selection, tons of flavors, that my kids love them more then candy, that my husband eats and loves them, that I can use their products in many recipes, that they are wholesome, and nutritous, or that they taste better then any other brand i ever tried.

QSBB 3D Carton Banana.jpg (2 documents, 2 total pages)

QSBB 3D Carton Cinn Pecan.jpg (2 documents, 2 total pages)

Both of these flavors are exceptionally yummy, you will have to grab at least one of each next time you are shopping! (Or more, I promise these will disappear quick!)

30 Lip Balm and Gloss Recipes (Roadrunner Digital)

I have been searching, looking, everywhere, asking everybody for clues, info, legitimate places to get recipes for home made lip gloss and lip balms.
Of course, I found some cool blogs where they had some very good recipes, that you can make with chocolate, things like that. That is great, but I was planning on making our own, and maybe to sell..
My 5 year old, Genevive, and i have plans to make our own lip glosses, fruity, candy, soda flavored, lol, and since we go through so much, I thought we would save money at the same time!!
I came across this book, and it actually has lots of good information! 30 recipes, and ingredients that I have heard of and can get!!
I am so annoyed with recipes that have some crazy ingredients that I can't get local, or semi local, and I also would like stuff that is edible, and would be perfectly fine to use on your lips! (and eat, lol, since that is normally what little girls do)
This book has step by step instructions, easy to understand, and actual good recipes!! I love it! I also found all of the stuff needed at a local store, so as soon as I make it there, we are getting started!
I have had nothing but luck with this website, and all the books they have to offer1 Everything from making your own lip gloss, to brownie recipes, to social media, to affiliate marketing, to children's books! It is just the coolest eBook store I have found.
I just grabbed a couple more books last night and will be posting about them very soon. I can't say enough how much each book I have read so far from RoadrunnerDigital has helped me in some aspect of my cooking, crafts with my kids, my online business, and there is really so much to choose from!
The prices are also perfect and they have awesome sales!! The best part is, when you make a purchase, you can read it instantly!
