It has been quite some time since I've actually read a genuine, Halloween, story. I'm not sure what happened over the past few years or maybe decade but, the horror movies and books just don't seem to be as creative or original as they used to be. Well, there were a couple of really unforgettable horror movies now that I think about it. But only a couple as compared to dozens in previous years...
Halloween is one of my very favorite holidays! There are decorations that stay up all year and we always find new decorations to add to the mix! We often take trips to our local drive-in to watch horror movies and take part in the haunted woods and other fun things they have set up for Halloween fans. (Depending on the weather of course!) Halloween is just a fun time of the year that doesn't have to only take place on October 31st. You can plan parties, movie all-nighters, trips to local haunted houses, it's a holiday that can involve everyone no matter your age! Of course, no Halloween is complete without a good ghost story or a spooky tale!
The Legend Of Mr. Ween takes place in 1905 with a gentleman named, Hal. He is traveling to Boston to seek work and ultimately finds something in Treattown. Hal is misunderstood by some of the locals but, he does win some of them over too! The author doesn't waste any time. You'll be brought to the story immediately and your imagination will run wild! It is a fantastic tale of how some of our most loved Halloween decorations came to be. (I'll give you a hint... it has to do with pumpkins!) This is a great story to add to your Halloween tradition, whatever that may be. Yes, it is kid-friendly although, I've noticed there is a kid version out there somewhere too! I am a horror fan but, I also appreciate fairy tales and classic literature and all kinds of books and The Legend Of Mr. Ween is definitely an unforgettable story! (and at 58 pages, you will be able to read this with your children quite easily!)
This story is for all ages and very easy to follow along. It is beautifully written and Daren Ross is a flawless author! His style of writing will remind you of good, old fashioned novels and this story will take you back to visit Treattown in 1905 yourself! There are a few times you will become so deeply immersed in this book that you'll start to wonder, "Is it 2019 or did I travel back in time?" If you aren't a horror fan or a gore fan, you will be delighted! If at times you start to wonder if this will turn into something dreadfully scary, have no fear! There are tons of little twists and tricks and turns. Don't worry horror fans, you will be pleasantly surprised with this fascinating tale of one of Halloween's most prized possessions! (Trust me here, the author adores Halloween as much as the rest of us!)

Halloween With Hylands Costume Contest
** I received Hylands products in return for helping to promote the Hylands Halloween Costume Contest. All opinions are my own. **
Halloween is probably my most favorite holiday of them all. Not just because I am a big horror movie fan or because I have Pinhead figures and posters in my house, 365 days a year, but also because it's fall, my favorite season. Sweatshirts, the smell of freshly fallen leaves, campfires, easier dinners thanks to crockpots, soups, pot pies, chili, the perfect weather to make opera fudge, whoopie pies, and the scary movie all nighters at the drive ins. (Yes, those still exist although, they are getting harder to find each year.)
Dressing up for Halloween parties and trick or treat is one of the best times to let your kid's imaginations shine! I always love to hear the ideas my little ones have each year and it's especially fun to create our own costumes! This year, my 8 year old had to dress up 4 days straight! This has been quite the hectic week but a fun one indeed! We had a parade on Tuesday and her Girl Scout troop was in that, then a Halloween party at her Girl Scouts meeting on Wednesday, trick or treat on Thursday and today, a Halloween party at school. Of course, she just had to be something different each day! The boys got to dress up last night for trick or treat and today again so, they were all able to let their imaginations run wild!
Along with fall and Halloween, comes cold and flu season. What better way to stock up then to enter to win the newest Hylands contest?! Hylands is running their 4th annual Halloween Costume Contest and 3 lucky winners will receive a prize package filled with Hylands products and a $50 Target gift card! Al you have to do is snap the cutest, most creative pictures you can, of your kids in their Halloween costumes and enter here!
Some important information about the contest:
The 3 pictures that win the Hylands judges hearts, will receive the following prize package:
I'm sure most of you already have some adorable and scary pictures of your fabulous costumes, so why not enter them? Or if you haven't had trick or treat yet, get all dressed up and think of the most clever pose and snap those pictures!
Have a happy and safe Halloween!!
Don't forget to come back and let us know if you were one of the lucky winners!!

R.L Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series Halloween Party
My whole family just loves Halloween! So, when we had an offer to host a party for R.L Stine, the kids were super excited!
Both Genevive and Aaron are big fans of R.L Stine and most of The Hub TV shows, so when our box arrived, they started digging through it and getting ready to prepare for their Haunted Halloween party.
We originally had a party date planned, and my oldest daughter also had a Halloween party planned for the night before,so we kind of twisted the 2 parties together.
Most of their relatives were coming, ages 5 and up. ( With the exception of Deegan, who is 2, but also had a fun time in his little ninja suit!) My oldest daughter also has a few friends with children around these ages, so we had a good turn out of 13 kids and some parents.
Along with the DVD of R.L Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series Halloween, premiere episodes, we received T shirts, glow in the dark snap bracelets, glow in the dark fangs and Grampire stickers.
Grampires is the season 3 premiere, episodes 1 and 2. The kids thought this was pretty cool, a retirement community of vampires! It was quite original and fit well of course.
A brother and sister go to visit their grandpa at his retirement community and end up finding out that some pretty scary vampires live there, and their grandpa ends up having to do what he can to save his grandchildren from these maniacs. ( This may end up explaining why little ones sometimes find these types of places so creepy:)
Along with watching the Grampires episodes, the kids had a few games, snacks of course, and also had a pumpkin carving contest. I think the most favorite was the jello eating contest!
Even a couple of the older kids played this game.
the object of the game was to see who could finish a bowl full of Jello, first, BUT, they also had to have their glow in the dark fangs in! This definitely made this much harder!
I believe this is also a lot harder then what it looks like!
Of course the little bat princess in the back, ( That's Genevive), and deegan, didn't want to participate, but they did have tons of fun painting pumplkins for the pumpkin carving/painting contest.
Everybody agrees that The Hub and R.L Stine, added a lot of spooky and creepy fun to their party and they especially loved all of the goodies they took home after the party. I think a few of them are still thinking about their grandpas and grandmas.....
I was selected to be a MommyParties host as part of a promotional program with MomSelect. All opinions are my own.

Printable Halloween Coloring Pages and Games
I am always looking for worksheets and coloring pages and games for the little ones, and of course they love doing coloring pages and our fridge is cluttered with so many wonderful and colorful pictures! I try my best to keep it on the low side, but they make sure to fill it right back up again, so I try to at least keep it current with the holidays and seasons.
I found this cool set of Halloween printables, 40 in all, and of course you only have to buy them once. After that, they are yours forever, and you can print as often as you wish! You can use these for school, games at home, Halloween parties, home school activities, fun things to do with your little ones, and you can share with family and friends.
You can grab this set of 40 Halloween printables for $19.95. Considering you can just save and re print as you wish, this isn't a bad price at all.
My little ones love these, and they are good for all ages. Deegan is 2, Genevive is 5 and Aaron is 9 and they all had their favorites and coloring and crafts are an almost daily event here at our house! These are easy enough to print out and just
stack on the kitchen table with a bucket of crayons and colored pencils, while I try and get dinner ready or get dishes or laundry done:)
They are also offering free printables, along with a $5 voucher!! You can use the $5 for the purchase of the complete set which would make the set just $14.95!
With the free set you will get:
- Witch on broomstick and cat with treat bag
- Squash centerpiece
- Frankenstein's Surprise!
- Kid dragging treat bag with hole in it and dog eating the leavings
- Kids in costume with overflowing treat bag
- Vampire couple 'dressed to kill'
- Skeleton eating candy and scary suit of armor
- Happy Jack the Scarecrow
- and the $5 off coupon!!
You can use the coupon until November 1st. ( You may have already grabbed this if you clicked any of the Facebook and Twitter posts:)
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Costume Discounters has the Best Selection for Pirate Costumes and Everything Else
Genevive, for one, loves to watch anything scary. (We don't really let her watch the scary, scary stuff!!)We just love Halloween. Maybe part of that is because we all love the fall weather too!
Getting this review opportunity for a pirate costume was a major score! Mainly for Genevive, because for some reason she has always had an infatuation with pirates. So, of course, we chose a costume for her.
I love this company for several reasons. Super fast shipping, excellent prices, large selection, ( if you are ever thinking of dressing like a pirate for instance, or somebody in your family is, there are 10 pages of pirate costumes, and accessories!) They also have a price match policy, and they offer these competitive prices year round. Everything you need to have the perfect Halloween costume, is all on this site. you don't have to shop elsewhere for any add ons, they are certain to have it all there! There is also a free shipping deal on orders over $70, and really, for that price, you should be able to take care of all of the kids and maybe your own. Especially if you are more apt to create your own costumes and maybe just need a few extras for each person. The customer service is prompt, friendly, super courteous and very helpful. If you need to exchange anything, the return shipping is on them!
We have some very cute pictures of Genevive in her pirate costume, but, I have to add them later, since Blogger decided to switch to the "new Blogger" in the middle of my last post. For some reason, it takes forever for them to load pictures in this new Blogger, and I have to try and work with this a little bit before I can get back to "normal" .
I would suggest when shopping, to make sure you check the size charts and maybe order a size bigger in certain costumes. With Genevive's, it was in her size, but fits a bit tighter then i expected or desired, but this wasn't at fault of the website, I can't really expect everything to be sized and proportioned exactly the same. The actual costume is high quality ad will certainly be able to be worn more then once. It isn't cheaply made by any means, and it is made of real material, rather then the cheap plastic stuff I see so often at the stores.
After doing this review, I have decided that this is the way we will be shopping from here on out. I won't be running to any stores of any kind, to choose from the few costumes they decided were going to be the biggest sellers that year. And I never really was a fan of the way the costumes were only able to be worn maybe one time! Besides saving time, money and gas, these are all the reasons I need to start our yearly costume shopping here from now on!

Anytime Costumes Review
Halloween has always been my very favorite holiday. I especially love anything scary, horror, whether it's ghosts, monsters, zombies, demons, anything that is classified as horror, (within reason), has my full attention! The same rule applies for celebrating Halloween, and Halloween costumes.
So, of course I was thrilled to be accepted for this review opportunity!
I was given the opportunity to choose my costume to review, and since my ancestors were actually gypsies, and I have always been fascinated by gypsies, I immediately starting searching for some cool gypsy costumes.
I chose the one above, I thought it was the prettiest out of all f them, although it was very hard to choose just one!!
We have a Halloween party at my pt job, so I intend on wearing this for that night. (Even if I will be working;)
After my recent transaction, shipment and questions, conversations with customer service, I have to say, I am more then pleased and impressed with this website. Not only was my order correct, it was shipped much faster then I expected and the actual costume is truly the exact costume I saw on the website. ( Yes, I have had some frightening experiences in the past with costumes and other sites, including major retailers! )
The little ones were helping me choose a costume, and of course, they found tons and tons that they are interested in for this year's Trick or Treat and after reviewing this website, and the speedy delivery, accuracy of my order and courtesy of staff I came in contact with, we really won't be going anywhere but here.
The size is perfect, and fits very well, so this was a big plus! The price was more then reasonable and I seriously can not get over how quick they were!
They have a large selection of costumes, for all ages, it will be hard for you to choose what you want to dress up as for Halloween! They also don't just have the costumes, they have the accessories, the shoes, boots, whatever you need, they will carry it! Actually, like the site and company are named, Anytimecostumes.com, costumes anytime is a good name, and it is true!
Each costume has an accurate detailed description of the costume, along with what comes with the costume, so the shopper doesn't get confused. Some actually do come with extras, so just check out the descriptions before you choose your costume!!
My next favorite thing about this site, are the prices. They have lots of sales, even clearance costumes, and the regular prices are just right.
I would recommend Anytimecostumes.com for all ages, and families, espcially those on a budget, and those who maybe want to wear the costume more then once.
You can follow Anytimecostumes on Twitter here!
and check out their Facebook page here!!
